Chromatica makes light installations for the places people share: galleries, hotel lobbies, atriums, reading rooms. The work rewards a second look, and it changes a room you thought you knew.
How it
began
A lighting designer and an
architect, arguing about color.
Chromatica started in 2021 when a lighting designer and an architect kept ending up in the same conversation: what happens when color is allowed to take up space? The first experiments were pieces of glass, a work light and an empty room. Some of them still hang in the studio.
We still work that way. Every project gets its own team, and the engineers and glassmakers are in the room from the first sketch, not the last. Some pieces come down after a season. Some have become part of the building.
Our process
How a
project goes.
No two rooms want the same thing, so
the process bends. The order doesn't.
We spend the first day in the room. Where the daylight lands, how sound moves, what the building already does well. Then we sit down with you and agree what the piece is for.
